Kerry and I met in So. California back in 1991 through my roommate. She told me she knew someone that she thought I should meet. The following Sunday at our singles ward, she introduced Kerry to me and we shook hands like normal people do when they meet. He appeared very friendly and cordial. And I thought he was a really nice guy, but sorry people...there were no real fireworks here!
Later on in the week, there was a ward talent show at the church that we attended where Kerry was the M.C. for the evening. It wasn't tell then that fireworks went off. I remember thinking how funny and entertaining he was. I remember feeling in my heart immediately that he was the one I was going to marry. There was no doubt in my mind. I believe that's when my "crush" began. The following week was Memorial weekend and I attended church that Sunday when who comes walking into Sacrament? ...Kerry. I was sitting on the back row and in the corner (I like back rows). And there happened to only be one seat unvailable on my side of the chapel which happened to be next to me. Which is the seat Kerry took. He was late arriving to church because he couldn't pull himself away from watching a game on T.V. (Still very Kerry, by the way.) He sat next to me and started making some sarcastic comment about the person speaking and I couldn't help but laugh. Well one thing led to the other and we had made plans to go out on our first date that holiday weekend.
There were a few Memorial day barbeques that we party hopped and later went to a movie. We dated every weekend from there and started seeing each other during the week when we could. I remember Kerry getting made fun of by his friends because he was no longer seeing more than one girl and that we must be serious. Which we were until Kerry ended our relationship after 6 months of dating. I was devastated. I could not understand why. I knew in my heart we were suppose to be together. Why was he making this decision, I asked myself? Well, let's just say he got cold feet and the next day we (he) made up. And we've been together ever since. After lots of saturdays at the beach, lunches at Rubio's Fish Tacos, golfing, movie and dinner dates, we were married in March of 1993 and sealed in the St. George Temple. In December of 1993 Kerry made a job transfer which relocated us to St. George. We've been here ever since. Through many hardships, arguments, 3 kids and old baggage we've some how made it to this point in our lives... parental figures, happy and healthy and very blessed. We take each day one at a time.
Kerry was the one person I knew I could see myself growing old with (him before me...hehe!) So here's to you Kerry...3 hand squeezes! (He'll know what this means!)

Your post was very touching and sweet. It was nice to hear you so such nice things about Kerry. I think you two are a perfect fit! I was a little nervous when I read that there were no fireworks in the second paragraph but to my relief there were some in the third. (You have to have fireworks sometime!)
Congratulations on 15 years! That is truly a milestone!
P.S. There seems to be a sentence missing? Am I right? :)
Congrats you two. It makes me happy to know that you and my brother still care so much for each other. Thought it was funny, Ryan and I do the three hand squeezes thing too. And I thought it was our little secret!
Congrats on 15 years! You guys have such a neat little family! I remember one Sunday...We were in Sunday school with Kerry and he was just sitting there listening to the lesson. Our Reagan crawled over by him and he bent down and picked her up, sat her on his lap and continued listening. She just stared at him like who are you. He looked at her and said, "I'm uncle Kerry." He made a couple of faces at her just kept her attention. I laughed inside because I barely knew him, but thought what a very nice guy. He held her for a long period of time...it was kind of funny! And Julie....the first time I met you, you brought us dinner after we had Reagan. Let me tell you that dinner was so good! It was a pasta dish with a salad and a little treat. Then we became visiting teaching partners. I was really intimidated at first because I am pretty shy when I first meet people, but you were awesome...I looked forward to sitting next to you in Relief Society every Sunday. Now I just miss the Ward so much!
No way, I thought we were the only ones who did the 3 hand squeeze thing. Maybe it runs in the family:) Great post, Julie. I never knew your dating story. Or I've forgotten it anyway. It's so amazing how the years bring deeper meaning into a relationship. Thats the beauty of marriage and having families together!
I'm now curious about the missing sentence???????
