Against the wishes of Kerry who actually wanted our kids to learn to ski, we signed Kaylee and Kason up for snowboarding lessons this past month. The lessons were through Dixie State College's Community Education program and lasted for 4 weekends. Community Ed. provided a bus and took them up to Brianhead. The $160 cost each included transportation to and from Brianhead, the rental of the boots and snowboard, lessons and a hot cocoa to drink (if they wanted) and plenty of good supervision. They made sure that each child was well taken care of. I was very impressed and the kids ended up loving it. On the last weekend of their lessons, Kerry and I and Jaynee drove up to watch and snap some pictures. We were so glad to see how much they had learned and how quickly they picked it up. It was fun to watch them...they looked so gnarly, dude! And isn't that such a great deal for the cost? That's $40 a weekend and I know you can't get everything they got for less than that. Plus, I had minus 2 kids each of those weekends which was a nice break. I think Kerry got over the fact that kids nowadays want to snowboard and not ski. But I think this upcoming winter, Kerry is going to convince them to try skiing instead. He'll probably talk them into it early on.
