Hoover's...NOT Hooter's!

We ended up having lunch upon our arrival to Big Rock Candy Mountain. We found this little place nestled at the base of the mountain near the Sevier River. It gave off nothing that looked anything like being a place to eat except for a small sign that said "cafe" posted near the road.So we decided to give it a try...and boy, were we surprised when we walked in. This place was a full service restaurant. A really, old rustice type restaurant that looked like it had been here for several decades. And probably the only place for miles for tourists to stop and eat along their way.

We were seated and given menus to order from. Menus, I might add that were full blown menus that included everything from steak and shrimp, salads, hamburgers, and a kids menu. Believe it or not, it only gets better. We all placed our drink orders and when we got them the cups were packed with snow cone ice. It was so yummy to be able to "eat" your favorite drink instead! We also couldn't believe how yummy the food was. It was so fresh and homemade tasting. I had to share this picture of the Pastrami Hamburger with Pepper Jack cheese I had and their homemade french fries. They called them "Hoover fries". How do you like the knife effect? My kids were so leary of our choice of place to eat, but they quickly realized this place wasn't so bad afterall. They enjoyed their fresh grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken tenders dipped and fried fresh upon ordering. We all especially loved to find the waitresses wearing these T-shirts with this saying on the back. When we pulled up to this place, Kerry said, "are you sure it's Hoover's and not Hooters?" Well, needless to say his question was quickly answered. We decided to try out their dessert options as well. And we all shared two large pieces of their homemade caramel molten brownies. There was two layers of brownies with carmel, chocolate pieces and pecans in between and on top. It really hit the spot!

So if you're ever wanting to take a road trip to Big Rock Candy Mountain, we highly suggest this little, Mom and Pop place to eat right off of Highway 89 just south of the I-70. It was well worth it! And remember..."It's HOOVER'S not Hooters!"
