Have you ever seen the show on the Food Network channel called "Ace of Cakes"? Well, that happens to be one of Kaylee's favorite shows to watch (and mine). She told me one night that she wanted to be a cake decorator some day. She also asked if we could go and buy some fondant icing and some cake decorating supplies so that she could learn. I decided that would be money well spent since it would help her practice and learn the skill. And if it didn't work out and she got bored or decided it was alot harder than she thought, I'd end up with some nice cake decorating supplies.
Here she is rolling out some white fondant getting ready to cover her cupcakes that she made and baked herself.
When the "Just Hinton Around" blog asked her what her favorite part was about making cupcakes. She responded, "I just liked everything about using the fondant". I also think she liked licking the batter off of the spoons at the end. As her mother, I hope she continues to develop her cooking and baking skills as she gets older. And if being a cake decorator is really what she wants to do then we hope she succeeds at it. She's already starting to get into doing some of things that I normally do. (Can we say, "mini me"!) She likes to help cook pancakes, scramble eggs, make mac & cheese, quesadillas, brown ground beef and chop veggies with me in the kitchen. I like that she enjoys doing stuff like because that's one way I've connected with my Mother over the years is through cooking and baking with her in the kitchen. I still look forward to it when we get together. It's fun to pass on that tradition to my own daughter. Who know's maybe someday all 3 of us will be in the kitchen together.

Tell Kaylee the cupcakes looked so cute. Ask her why she didn't bring me one too? JK
