The reason for the Season

Another one of our traditions we like to do with the kids is going to go see the Nativity and lights at the Temple. (By the way, I love the silhouettes of the Nativity in the picture above with the Temple in the background.)

We debated whether we were going to go on this night because of the strong wind that was blowing everything in sight. But we quickly changed our minds when we thought it would be fun to bundle up in our winter coats and gloves and head out to get that true wintry, Christmas feeling. We don't always get that extra cold, wintry feeling where we live because it rarely ever snows here. So our temperatures are bearable with a warm jacket. However, on this night you could feel that winter was pushing itself into St. George full force. Goodbye pretty fall leaves and hello Jack Frost!
My friend, Julie and I had talked earlier in the day and it just so happened that we both had plans to go see the lights at the Temple that evening. We said, "maybe we'll see you there." Little did we know we'd end up there at the exact same time. We came around the corner and there they were...the whle Babcock family. They were so hospitable in inviting us over to their car afterwards for hot cocoa and cookies. What a sweet treat! Thank you, Babcocks!
Here are TJ, Jaynee and Courtney trying to stay warm:
I took night pictures of the lights. I love how these lights turned out like little hearts because of the slow shutter speed.
Heading back to the car, we stopped so the kids could look at the fountain in front of the Temple.
Yay, for Christmas!

May we all remember the real reason for the season, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

What a wonderful perk that goes along with living in Utah! The temple is so beautiful and I love the nativity display. Such simple beauty...it really is what the season is all about.
