Kaylee just recently had their school's band Christmas concert. This is her second year being in their band. The first year she played she started out playing the clarinet, but half way into the year, she quickly became bored of it and switched over to the trumpet. A trumpet??? Go figure. Apparently they have the same notes. Anyways, she's been playing it now for almost a year and is getting better at as time goes by.

She just happens to have a really fun, cool and outgoing band teacher. Introducing... Mr. Schmidt.

Kaylee is the only girl trumpet player in her entire 7th grade band group. She's in the middle of this picture tucked between two boys.

A breather while Mr. Schmidt speaks and to look for us in the bleachers.

The best part of the whole concert was when they played one of my most favorite Christmas songs. It's from the movie The Polar Express called "Believe". I caught a 30 second video of it on my cell phone. I wish I could have got more of it but that's all my cell phone would hold.
I also love this version from Josh Groban...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDoRPbsfJE0I thought the expression on Kaylee's face was pretty funny as she was looking at this kid with the crazy hat and sunglasses he put on just before a song called Jingle Bells and Jungle drums. They all did the wave as they were playing and I guess some of the kids thought it would be cool to be crazy at the same time and wear Santa hats and sunglasses.

I love to listen to her play. And we're proud of her in how well she's managed to learn two different instruments over the past year and a half. I hope she'll continue to keep it up and want to progress. Way to go, Kaylee!
