Peach picking

Mmmm...there's nothing like a nice, juicy, ripened peach at the end of the summer. Yum-yum!This past week, my friend at the temple, Trish, told me to come by her house sometime and pick peaches from her tree. Oh my gosh, I was so excited! How could I pass up the opportunity to come by and pick some fresh peaches??? She had a very lovely tree in her backyard...A tree that already had 4 of its "boughs" break from an abundance of peaches. There was a branch behind the fence that was being propped up by a 2x4 because it was just about to snap. So with my bags in hand, I marched up the ladder and found lots of these beauties...

And even some of these "not so beautiful beauties"... those 1 1/4 inch, black and shimmery green June bugs we are so lucky to get here...yuck! That were sucking like crazy on some of the peaches I came across. The horrible part of it was when you came upon a really lovely peach and tried to pick it, some of the June bugs would be on the opposite side of the peach out of view and then would fly off and catch you off guard! They make this really loud buzzing-almost clicking kind of sound that just scares the living daylights out of you. Not fun! But when you end up with 2 bags of peaches of like this....you can't complain! We were so blessed to be able to come by and get these peaches. Thanks Trish for offering to share your abundance with us. They were so yummy! My favorite thing to make with peaches is my recipe for Peach Cobbler which you can find on my recipe blog. The link is on my sidebar and from there you'll find the recipe. It's really good and you must try it!

Jaynee was my little helper that day and even found herself a gem to take home. We washed it up good, so she could eat it in the van. Mmm, mmm good!

I think that fresh peaches are my favorite food in the world! A close second is "fresh" bottled peaches! Oh, that we were still in Utah.

One year for my birthday my best friend used her last bottle of "fresh" bottled peaches to make me cobbler. It was heavenly!

I am soooooooo jelous...simply dripping with juicy envy!

Thanks for the bag of peaches! Thank you for not including a june bug or two! I've had enough bugs to last me for awhile.

Julie, sorry about the spoiler on my page! I forget other people will read my blog eventually! Picking peaches! Wow! I just go buy them at the store! I hate finding unexpected surprise in my fruit! Which is why I don't go and pick any! I have Michael do that!
