His teacher, Mr. Larson, sent home his final score of 46 out of 50. He said that when he had to give the report orally, he didn't look directly at the class. He looked at the wall most of the time. I was shocked! This was his first book report of the year, my son isn't a public speaker and doesn't he get some credit for drawing his own image on the front of the sack? Kason said he was the only student who had done that. Everyone glued and pasted stuff to the front. What does a mother do? Retaliate? Send a note to the teacher with my concerns? Or is just not worth the effort?
Kason really loves this teacher and is enjoying school for the most part this year. Maybe this Mom just needs to suck it up and let it go this time around...??? And hope for a better score next month. What do you think?

I say you egg the teacher's car. How dare he give cute little Kason a 46 out of 50! My heck, I'm sure he is the cutest kid in the class as well. Tell Kason I love his portrayal of Count Olaf's leg and tattoo. Tell Kason too that those are some of my FAVORITE books. If he wants to read any more of them, I have them all!
When I was in high school, I worked my butt off creating a report about Sweden. I drew my own map and flag of the country. It was awesome! I scored a 96 out of 100. All because I kept my hands in my pockets during the oral report. LOL. But you know what? I didn't even care. I was so stinking scared to get up in front of the class, that I was happy that the teacher only found the one thing to fault me for.
So should you say something to the teacher??? I guess that's your choice. But here is some food for thought to help you make your decision...when a teacher raises a child's grade because a parent complains. The teacher has to raise the entire classes grade. Out of fairness. So even though Kason totally deserves the highest score possible, him getting it, might mean that other less deserving kids will get scores they didn't work for.
Too much food for thought perhaps. :) Anyway, tell Kason that his drawing is awesome. Maybe you should frame it and hang it in his room.
He did such a nice job! Coloring is a lost art form in this "technological" society.
PS- I LOVE the suckers with the lips on the outside! I WANT SOME FOR MY KIDS!!!
Well let me know and I will buy the eggs.......lol! We all know Kason is awesome if the teacher hasn't realized that yet then that is her problem. Actually 46 out of 50 is an A so I think that is great!
I think an A is great too. Everyone has their own opinions about what is perfection. If you were the teacher, being artistic like you are, you probably would have recognized the effort. Maybe his teacher is not so much artistic, but sees the speaking part as a more important element. You just keep praising him and that will mean the most to him...as long as his mother is proud of him!
