Kason's 9th Birthday

Our Buddy, as he is affectionately known in our family, turned 9 a week ago on the 24th. The day after school was officially out for us. He had played with a friend shortly after school let out and was caught in some colder weather as the day went on. He told me he had never thought of wearing his coat. So Kason woke up the morning of his birthday with flu-like symptoms and was bummed to be sick on his birthday. We held off doing anything for him or going anywhere because we weren't sure how he was going to be feeling. Luckily, by 3pm he was up and going and was ready to take on his birthday festivities.

We headed off to our favorite birthday place to eat, The Pizza Factory. Where they will bake a pizza in the shape of whatever "number" you are turning for your birthday. Kason couldn't wait for his "9" shaped pizza.

After dinner, we headed to go watch this movie:He has been so anxious to see this movie since the day it came out. If you have never seen it...go see it! It's an awesome movie! It kept your attention the entire time. Or was it because of Robert Downey, Jr.??? Anyways, he loved it, we loved it...so go see it! And make sure you stay long enough for the credits to end, there's an extra at the very end. I can't wait!

One of Kason's favorite treats is eating a plain Hershey's chocolate bar. He asks for them all the time (he doesn't get them all the time), but he asks for them all the time. He would rather have that plain chocolate bar anyday over something with nuts, caramel or peanut butter. So this year I decided to make him a chocolate Hershey bar birthday cake. I added some chocolate chips to the cake batter and some little, individual Hershey bar sections to the top of his cake. I surprised him with it and he was so excited to see I had made him that kind of cake. He said, "how did you know that I like those chocolate bars?" I said, "Mom's just do!" He got a big smile on his face and was soon in chocolate heaven.
He ended up with one candle to blow out, but nine little chocolate bars on the cake instead.
He later opened his presents and got the one thing he wished he would have asked for for Christmas. An official RIPSTIK! He was so excited to finally have one! Here he is giving it a try...I love the tongue hanging out:Here's my handsome and really cool 9 yr. old son:

We just love our Buddy so much. He's such a good boy, he has a zest for life and loves to "ham-it-up" in large groups of people. (Mom doesn't always think it's funny!) At this point in his life, he loves to play with his friends, play video games and watch cartoons. He just recently completed his Wolf rank in Cub Scouts and has moved on to the Bear den. He loves to help me cook and go hunting or fishing with his Dad and Grandpa Hinton. He's such a good big brother to his sister Jaynee. She adores him so much that he gets bothered by her following him around all the time. Kaylee loves to pick on him, but we know she loves him deep down or she wouldn't do what she does to him on a daily basis. We're so proud of Kason in being the sweet boy that he is. He makes this Mom's heart get all warm when he says things like: "you're the best Mom ever", "I love you, Mom", "thanks for buying me this, it's the coolest" and even though he was sick on his birthday, he managed to let me know at the end of the day "this was the sweetest (coolest) birthday ever!" Ahh, see what I'm talking about?

It must have been the best, this is how I found my family after returning home from the movie....

What more could be said?

I just read your last 3 posts. Looks like all the little Hintons had a monumental past week or two. They're all growing too fast. They're such great kids!
